Cold Chain
The supply chain is short and controlled from landing to container. Cold-chain temperatures are logged at each transfer.
-
Chilled at the reservoir landing site in ice slurry, within an hour of net-lift.
-
Moved to our Monaragala collection facility for grading, weighing, and pack-out.
-
Processed at a certified Sri Lankan export processing establishment under toll arrangement.
-
Loaded into refrigerated containers for FCL or LCL despatch from Colombo Port.
Traceability
Every consignment is anchored to Key Data Elements at the landing point — reservoir, Fisheries Cooperative Society, landing date, gear type, initial chilling time. These KDEs travel with the product through processing and are surfaced on the export documentation. Buyers can verify origin at any point in the chain.
Regulatory Framework
-
Aquaculture activity authorised under the National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA) framework.
-
Landing and inland fisheries regulation under the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DFAR).
-
Export processing through a Sri Lankan establishment holding the applicable certifications for the destination market (HACCP, BRC, FDA registration, Friend of the Sea, SEDEX).
-
Export Health Certification issued by DFAR as the national competent authority.
Commercial Terms
Minimum order quantity
MOQ is set per format and per destination market. We work with buyers taking as little as a pallet of fresh chilled through to full-container-load frozen. Talk to us and we will size the offer to your programme.
Incoterms
FOB Colombo Port for standard export contracts. CIF and DAP available for anchor buyer programmes.
Payment
Irrevocable Letter of Credit (LC) at sight for new relationships. TT terms available against agreed history.
Lead time
Fresh chilled: order-to-despatch measured in days, subject to landing conditions. Frozen: sized against production planning, typically two to six weeks depending on volume and specification.
A Note on Supply Reality
The reservoirs set the pace, not us. Landings are what the water surrenders, not what a production schedule dictates. We are candid with importers about this: our export offer scales through anchor-buyer relationships that can absorb variability rather than through spot-market volume. If your programme depends on rigid weekly tonnage, tell us up front and we will size the conversation accordingly.
